RUBONGI RURAL YOUTH ASSOCIATION FOR HIV/AIDS AND POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROJECT (RRYAHAPAP).

Who we are:

Rubongi Rural Youth Association for HIV/AIDS and Poverty Alleviation Project (RRYAHAPAP); is a Ugandan registered  community based organization, registered with the ministry of Labour, Gender and Social Development in Tororo District under the NO.YT/3000 in 2005 and renewed on 23rd .March 2009. It is not for profit making, non political, non religious, non governmental but established purposely to sensitize the local community on HIV/AIDS, lobbing for funds to support the orphans and vulnerable children, people living with HIV/AIDS, advocating for the rights of the local community in the grass root level and participating in productive and skillful trainings, resource mobilization and management etc.

 

RYAHAPAP is not funded by any development partner and is just lobbing.

To create a free HIV/AIDS environment, low poverty level and literacy at the grass root level.

 

Our Mission

 

To provide the preventive measures for HIV/AIDS through sensitization, giving education support to the orphans and vulnerable children through resource mobilization and creating income generating activities through agricultural projects.

 

Aim of RRYAHAPAP

 

RRYAHAPAP aims to engage the youth to fight HIV/AIDS, illiteracy and poverty through: sensitization, education support and income generating activities in order to have a reduced HIV/AIDS infection rate, low school dropout and sustainable livelihood activities.

 

Objectives

 

RRYAHAPAP, supports a wide variety of activities that will improve on the lives of the people living at the grass root level.

 

1.  To Sensitize the youth on the dangers of HIV/AIDS:

   To increase access to positive prevention and Abstinence and Being faithful prevention intervention so as to contribute towards reduction of HIV transmission in Budama South Constituency.

 

2. To solicit for material funds and man power support to the youth:

    To built the capacity of orphans and vulnerable children, youth, widows and disabled to manage developmental projects both at individual and groups at the grass root level.

What support does RRYAHAPAP offer?

Ø       Counselling and guidance

Ø       Engaging the grass root communities in the fight against HIV/AIDS and Poverty

Ø        Providing scholarstic support to the orphans and vulnerable children and windows.

 



CHALLENGES

  • Fewer resources available for activities implementation.
  • Low staffing and capacity building opportunities.
  • Lack of financial resources to open up outreaches for counseling service.
  • Challenges in mobilizing for funding.


  •   $10 can pay for a child a meal for lunch in primary school
  •  $40 can pay school fees for 1 child in secondary day school.
  •  $20 can buy a grass for thatching a house to a window.
